11:30am          Meet the Makers with Rob Wensing

How does a product go from concept to sensation? What is it like to design products for the Apple ecosystem?

You’ll meet founders and craftsman behind popular products during this session lead by Rob Wensing of Apple Spotlight. The panel will share their experiences and insights – good and bad – in this look into the world of making products for Apple devices.

The panel includes founders from:

  • Anki – featured on stage with Apple during its 2013 developers conference
  • Cuff – a wearable startup with a twist, launching products later this year
  • DODOcase – makers of the original bookbound iPad case, made by hand in San Francisco
  • Studio Neat – its first product, the Glif, was one of the greatest early Kickstarter success stories

From prototyping to business challenges, hear the unique stories from people that build.

4:15pm          GarageBand 101: So You Want To Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star with Bob “Dr. Mac” LeVitus

If you want to discover how easy it is to make music with GarageBand, this session is the perfect introduction. You’ll discover cost-effective hardware products; how Apple Loops can save you time and effort; how to record vocals and acoustic instruments; a brief introduction to GarageBand’s wonderful software instruments; and much more.

To make it more interesting, rather than a boring slideshow and feature demos, I intend to perform, record, mix, and master a rock and roll tune — playing all guitars, bass, and drums, and singing all vocals — in under an hour. All so you can discover how incredibly easy (and inexpensive) it can be to create a masterpiece* in GarageBand.
